W5 Solutions has established a strategic partnership with the U.S. company Shield AI, a fast-growing defence technology company building the V-BAT UAS and accompanying autonomy software, Hivemind.
V-BAT represents the next generation of unmanned aerial systems
The V-BAT is a tactical multipurpose UAS piloted by autonomy software, which enables access to contested airspace. A single, petrol-fueled, ducted-fan engine with thrust vectoring gives the V-BAT long-range endurance and excellent performance in artic and harsh weather conditions. The V-BAT requires a minimal logistic footprint, making it suitable for maritime applications.
V-BAT supports a wide range of interchangeable and customizable payloads such as electro-optical and infrared sensors, synthetic aperture radar and land/maritime wide area search AI-based capabilities.

“Alongside our wonderful partners at W5, we’re thrilled to deliver the best-in-class V-BAT to our partners in Sweden. V-BAT is the solution to the increasingly urgent need for the best tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance resources for our European partners’ most strategic missions. I am confident that this is only the beginning of widespread V-BAT adoption and employment in the region,” says Brandon Tseng, Shield AI’s President and co-founder.
“The V-BAT brings an outstanding performance suitable for the Nordic environment and we see significant opportunities with the V-BAT UAS in the Swedish market. The partnership is well established with our business strategy due to our strong market position including support and services capabilities says Robert Dahlqvist, Executive Vice President and Head of Sales at W5 Solutions”.
